Sanchayan Bhowal

Welcome to my homepage! I am Mathematics master student at Indian Statistical Institute (Bangalore). My main interest is in probability theory.

Education

2023 - 2025

Indian Statistical Institute, Bangalore

Bachelor of Mathematics

2020 - 2023

Experience

Big Data Summer Institute

University of Michigan

In this project we compared various feature selection methods. We created two separate models with the best feature selection method for genomics and imaging data to predict survival time in LGG patients. We also employed stability selection in order to ensure robustness.

June 2023 - July 2023

SN Bhatt Memorial Fellowship

International Centre Theoretical Sciences

I worked on Cutoff Phenomenon in Markov Chains. This included reading from the book “Markov Chains and Mixing Times”. I also read the paper “Total Variation Cutoff in Birth Death chains” by Ding, Lubetzky and Peres.

May 2022 - July 2022

Research

My present research interests include estimation in various statistical physics models. I also study limit theorems of quantities arising from these models in high dimensions.
